The land is situated primarily for the production of red wine grapes, on high-lying slopes up to 540m above sea level with the estate backing on to the Jonkershoek Mountain in the nook of the Banghoek valley. Expert viticulturists have confirmed the potential of the land to produce wines that can compete internationally. The red oak leaf soil that covers most of the farm is perfect for the growth of vines. Of the 40 hectare farm, 6 hectare is under grape and we produce the following varietals: Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Of these varietals we bottle all straight except for the Malbec and Petit Verdot of which we have one block each for blending purposes. My brother, Francois and I are responsible for the winemaking. Francois is also the viticulturist and I am responsible for the marketing aspect of the business. My father the engineer takes care of the infrastructural challenges on the farm. The final touch of Familial dedication to the wines, is the label, which is a sketch done by my sister, Marieke Kruger.

As for the wine making we work with what the season gives us as opposed to following the same techniques annually. We also strive to combine old and new world styles of winemaking to produce full bodied wines with aging potential of 8-10 years but is already very accessible 2 years post harvest.
We select bunches and hand-pick at dawn, the sorting takes place by hand and the plunging is done in open fermenters. We use a small basket press for light pressing. The wines are aged in small French oak barrels for 12 months.
