Just down the road from the world famous Cango Caves is the picturesque farm of Karusa, overlooking a dam at the foothills of the Swartberg mountains. This wine and fruit farm is a family operated and managed one, where they focus on cultivars such as Shiraz, Viognier, Mourvèdre, Grenache Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay to name a few.
Karusa has 6 of their own craft beers, as well as Aroma-infused Gins, made in co-lab with Grundheim Distillery. They have their own raw honey available to purchase, cold pressed olive oil and good old fashioned apricot jam and peach chutney. There is an inside area and 2 outside options to choose from. The restaurant offers Karoo inspired tapas so you won’t go hungry. There is a jungle gym and lots of grass for children to run around and play. Accommodation is available in 2 renovated farmhouses that date back to the 1950s. It’s a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere as you ‘think Karoo, drink Karusa’.
