Du’SwaRoo wine and olive farm is located just North of Calitzdorp on the road to
Groenfontein and lies across the secondary slopes of Besemkop, south of the Swartberg
mountains. It is a small farm with an olive grove of 900 olive trees and small vineyards for
own use. Kallie and Pat Calitz are the owners since 2017. Kallie is the winemaker in the
boutique wine cellar and is making a reasonable variety of wines, including port style wines
from their own grapes and also grapes purchased from farmers around Calitzdorp. Small
batches of between 250 and 800 bottles are made of each variety. The focus is to produce
wines that taste fresh and fruity and can be enjoyed by young and old.
Under Pat’s watchful eyes the farm produces also table olives, olive oil and a range of deli
products that visitors can purchase. The range includes delicious atchars, jams, jellies,
marinated mushrooms, harissa pastes, olive pesto, Mediterranean tomatoes and other
seasonal products.
