Dragonridge Winery is situated on Fynbos Estate, deep in the Paardeberg. The beautiful farm has 15 hectares of vineyards and 270 hectares of nature reserve. One of the mountains on the farm resembles a sleeping dragon, hence the name ‘Dragonridge’.
Fynbos Estate has become a favourite destination for those with a love of nature and countryside, comfortable yet simple accommodation and fine quality food and wine. A grand old Victorian farmhouse and quaint country cottages nestled amongst vineyards, olive groves and mountains, make Fynbos Estate ideal for getaways, weddings, workshops, retreats and conferences.
The farm produces between 20 and 40 tonnes of organic grapes each year which are used to produce small quantities of handcrafted natural organic wines. The Dragonridge philosophy is simple: make natural wines from unirrigated vineyards that are pruned and suckered to produce small yields of grapes with concentrated flavours. This also allows minimal use of sulphur, and vinifying of the wines with very little interference. Bottling is done without filtration. All of this means our wines are not only 100% organic, but also completely vegan. We are proud of our unusual and exceptional red and white wines, one desert wine and very popular sparkling wines, which includes MCC and Methode Ancestrale.
During harvest (mid January to early March), individuals and groups can join us to make wine in the traditional way, from picking to bottling. Combine an hour or so harvesting grapes with working in the cellar, eating a delicious country lunch, tasting wine and having lots of fun. By arrangement, wine-tasting lunches and overnight getaways are also available.
