Bellevue Wine Estate in the prestigious Stellenbosch wine growing region in South Africa, cultivates approximately 152ha of vineyards on a variety of sites. It boasts one of the oldest Pinotage blocks in the country, first planted in 1953! It remains the Pride and Joy of Bellevue and a very special wine is made from this block, called “The 1953”.
An original Cape Dutch homestead can be found on the Estate, built in 1803, and after careful restoration in 1993, the house has been declared a National Monument. A state-of-the-art tasting room and restaurant has been furnished inside one of the historical wings of the cellar, where you can enjoy delicious, rustic pizza’s, burgers and a range of mouth-watering meals from the Black-board menu, updated weekly! Recently, a more relaxed eatery, Julie’s Creek, was added to the estate with rolling lawns to picnic on, where guests are encouraged to spend the day with their families (and fur-babies!).
The newly renovated tasting room is inspired by old world elegance with modern finishes and comfort. It is very spacious and caters for medium-large tour groups while cozy corners also make small parties feel at home. With its traditional layout; yet contemporary appeal; it provides the ideal setting to sample Bellevue’s classic, award winning wines. The Tasting Room also offers cheese platters and together with the play area for kids; one can now linger a little longer on the oversized verandah.
