Groote Post Wine Estate is a wine farm that began as a supply post for passing ships and dates back to the 18th century. Today, the estate is owned and run by the Pentz family, who have carefully developed it into a respected wine farm while preserving its working agricultural roots.
The wine tasting takes place inside the cellar, surrounded by stainless steel tanks and oak barrels. This practical, behind-the-scenes setting gives real context to the wines, all shaped by the cool coastal influence of the Darling region. Tastings can be paired with charcuterie boards, and outside there are open lawns and countryside view — with the farm being both child- and dog-friendly.
Groote Post also offers guided farm drives through its 2,000-hectare conservation and game area, home to rare Swartland Renosterveld and indigenous wildlife including giraffe, eland, bontebok and springbok. The ±2-hour experience includes a Cheese & Wine stop with vineyard views towards Table Mountain and runs at 9am by 48-hour advance booking.
Tucked away in Muldersvlei on the famous Stellenbosch Wine Route, De Meye Estate is a family-owned winery with roots running deep into South Africa’s most celebrated winemaking region. For five generations, the Myburgh family has farmed this land, nurturing both the soil and a legacy of authenticity and craftsmanship.
The vines growing on De Meye farm have been carefully selected to suit the unique terroir of the area. The red varietals grown include Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz while Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc make up our white varietals. The farm is 100ha in size and holds the winery, cellar and storage.
Beyond the cellar, De Meye offers a relaxed and welcoming tasting experience, where guests can enjoy tastings of our full wine range under the trees or on the lawn, surrounded by vineyards and open farm views. Our much-loved Table Restaurant serves seasonal set-menu lunches, enjoyed beneath the oak trees, where simple, honest food is paired with our wines in a laid-back, casual setting.
The farm also provides a beautiful wedding venue, offering sweeping views across the vineyards towards Simonsberg Mountain, making De Meye a place not only for winemaking, but for gathering, celebrating, and sharing the farm’s character with others.

Hugging the banks of the Breede River is Viljoensdrift Wine Estate, with a heritage of winemaking that dates back to 1818. Five generations of Viljoens have produced wines here and today brothers Fred and Manie Viljoen carry this proud tradition on.
This wine tasting is a little different, as you can experience a relaxing boat trip on the peaceful waters of the Breede River. The deli is jammed packed with all sorts of goodies to create a gourmet picnic, grab a bottle of wine and you are all set for your cruise on the flat-bottomed river boat affectionately named Uncle Ben 2. The boat cruise lasts 50 minutes and departs daily on the hour. Bookings are essential as it fills up very quickly.
The Viljoensdrift team create 3 different wine ranges to appeal to a diverse wine audience, and most of them at very affordable prices. These include the Cellarmaster’s Selection, their Flagship River Grandeur or the easy-drinking Viljoensdrift Range. There is a tasting area inside, but the outside deck that overlooks the river is ideal to taste through any 4 wines. A very relaxed and unhurried tasting, either before or after your cruise.
What began as a festive three-barrel foot stomp event attended by a handful of friends on a south peninsula beach in 1996, produced a very palatable Syrah, and saw the founding in 1997 of the first true micro-winery in the Western Cape with Pinot Noir the focus. The aptly named Barefoot Wine Company trading as Catherine Marshall Wines has long outgrown its humble origins to become a legendary institution and exporting globally. Cathy is the first woman winemaker to have her own eponymous wine label. She was also one of the pioneers of Pinot Noir production in South Africa with her first bottling in 1997.
After scouring vineyards throughout the Western Cape, the decision was made in 2007 to source all grapes from mostly cool climate Elgin and the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley for Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Chenin Blanc and the warmer sights for our red wines. As a trained viticulturist, Catherine Marshall closely collaborates with growers, managing pruning, canopy, and crop size to ensure optimal vine and cluster ripeness and achieve the perfect harvest timing for exceptional grape quality.
Today, Jono Oxenham, Catherine’s son, has seamlessly stepped into his mother’s shoes, inheriting her passion for winemaking and becoming our resident Winemaker. As Cellar Master, Catherine continues to guide and inspire Jono and the team, ensuring the continued creation of elegant, premium wines through their combined expertise.
You are warmly invited to visit our tasting room, nestled amidst the picturesque Polkadraai Valley. Enjoy the relaxed, home-like atmosphere while savouring these exquisite wines and embracing our journey first hand.

Capensis means “from the Cape” and they specialise in Chardonnay only. Just over 10 years ago, Jackson Family Wines founded Capensis with 8 hectares under vine in the mountainous slopes of the Banghoek Valley in Stellenbosch.
Capensis established their high elevation Fijnbosch Vineyards to produce Chardonnay that was reflective of the Stellenbosch region bringing pronounced citrus notes, structure, refinement and acidity. Capensis incorporate grapes from other regions to blend with the Fijnbosch grapes. These include those from Kaaimansgat Vineyards, Bruwer Vineyards, Nooitgedacht Vineyards and Vleiplaas Vineyards.
The Kliphuis tasting room was built with repurposed timber and stonework to blend into the surroundings and is open by appointment only.

Just outside the picturesque town of Stellenbosch is Lievland Vineyards with its manor house dating back to 1865. Lievland is Afrikaans for Loveland, and although this estate lay dormant for many years, MAN Family Wines acquired Lievland in 2017 and has brought it to back to life with great enthusiasm and pride.
The inspiration for the labels with a cupid riding a springbok, comes from a time when 2 horses adopted a baby springbok, and this unusual love story between these mismatched animals inspired the wine labels you see today.
The wine tasting is ideal outside on the patio overlooking a pretty dam and lush green grass and hills. There is an inside section for those Winter days. From their award-winning Rosé (50% Syrah and 50% Mourvèdre) with its Platter’s 4 stars and Tim Atkins 92 & 91 points, to their certified Old Vine Chenin and flagship red wine Lievland Heart’s Ease Syrah.
The platters are delicious, and the wine ambassadors are friendly and helpful. The Lievland Café is open daily and has a variety of breakfasts and lunches, including a Sunday roast.
