Grangehurst Winery, a boutique wine cellar on the slopes of the Helderberg mountain produces exceptional red wines and specialise in older vintages. Jeremy Walker started the family business in 1992 by converting his dad’s former squash courts into a wine production cellar where grapes sourced from neighbouring farms were crushed and pressed into wine. Fast forward to 2023 and the production cellar and underground barrel cellar are in full swing, but still at an unhurried and handcrafted pace. The tasting room, otherwise known as The Pavilion offers gorgeous views of False Bay coastline with Table Mountain as a backdrop. This space started out as a mushroom shed, but now boasts beautiful finishes with an inside and outside area. There is no restaurant, but they do have olives and biscuits to snack on. The tastings are older vintages and can range from 2009 to 2015. Grangehurst has three self-catering cottages that are ideal for a winelands getaway, with options to stay for a night, a week or months at a time.
