Kleinood in Stellenbosch is a boutique wine estate, that is home to Tamboerskloof Wines. Of the 12 hectares of arable land, 10 of these are for vines and the remainder for olive trees. Kleinood has a Dutch and German origin and means “something small and precious”.
This quint estate is home to predominantly Syrah grapes, with a sprinkling of Mourvedre and Viognier. Each vineyard is managed as a separate block and cared for, irrigated, harvested and matured separately.
The tasting room is a cozy single room with a super long table that offers a ‘traditional family style’ feel. On a sunny day you can sit outside in the garden next to a pretty pond or overlooking the mountains and vineyards. There is no restaurant, but seasonal charcuterie platters are available.
