Kay and Monty Vineyards is nestled in the heart of the picturesque Plett Winelands, just 25 minutes’ drive from the town itself.
Originally 2 protea farms, Rondebosch & Redford, they were bought in 2004 by owner Chick Legh, an avid polo player, and subsequently converted into a polo estate. In 2008 the first vines were planted which produced their first vintages in 2012. It was then that Chick decided to name the vineyard in loving memory of his parents, Kay & Monty. Today, the farm is now owned by Chick’s daughter, Steph.
While our farm is a staggering 220 hectares, the vineyards only roll across roughly 8 hectares of resplendent hills, keeping our emphasis on being a boutique wine farm, popular for weddings and events. The rest remains a fully functioning polo estate with the addition of some grazing cattle, a modern tasting room restaurant and the Rare Earth Country House.
Wine Tasting/Restaurant: open Wed to Sun, 11am-4pm (pre-booking recommended in summer).
Picnics: available to pre-book (please contact the farm).
On hot summer days enjoy a light lunch made up of locally sourced fresh ingredients while enjoying the view. On colder days you can keep warm in the comfort of our two fireplaces. It’s a very social affair so bring friends and family!
