According to the Franschhoek Museum, the original grant of La Bri is one of the oldest Huguenot-allocated farms in the Franschhoek Valley. It was 1 of the 9 farms granted to the Huguenots who sought sanctuary in the Cape in 1688. This Estate is nestled in the Franschhoek Valley with the fitting meaning of the name ‘La Bri’ meaning refuge. La Bri is on the Franschhoek wine trams Blue and Green lines making it easy to visit while there. Each La Bri wine has its own unique Cape flower on the label, apart from the Syrah which appropriately features herbs. These labels play on the symbiotic relationship between wine and fynbos in the Cape Floral Kingdom. La Bri has a lovely deck overlooking their vineyards and the surrounding mountain vista. They have a standard wine tasting or 3 wine pairings to choose from – Wine & Chocolate pairing; Wine & Lokum (Turkish Delight) pairing and a Biltong & Wine experience. No restaurant, but a cheese and biltong platter is available to snack on.
